George specialises in advising on planning, consenting and public law issues on large-scale infrastructure schemes in the transport, water and energy sectors, as well as on residential and commercial developments.
George advises both public and private sector clients on all aspects of authorising major infrastructure and energy projects, including under the Planning Act 2008 and Transport and Works Act 1992. He also regularly advises clients on public law and Parliamentary matters, including in respect of petitioning against Hybrid Bills and the scope of the statutory powers of various public bodies. He also advises local authorities and developers on conventional planning applications.
George has advised on complex nationally significant road schemes, airports and ports, as well as mixed-use projects. He has particular experience in guiding clients on overall strategy (from optioneering and case-making), as well as advising on the structuring of consents to allow for flexible implementation, together with Environmental Impact Assessment and compulsory acquisition issues. He also has significant experience in statutory drafting, having been responsible for drafting various Development Consent Orders and Transport and Works Act Orders.
George has also spent time working as part of the Transport for London legal team, where he advised the Mayor of London on all aspects of his planning powers.
