500 small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore will be given help to digitise their businesses.

A programme aims to help 500 SMEs on their businesses transformation by digitisation by the end of 2022. It will offer digital resources and tools, training in five areas of digitisation and on-site implementation support in the form of workplace learning sessions.

Five areas of digitisation include digital communication and collaboration, workflow automation, process automation, data processes and visualisation, and digital marketing.

NTUC LearningHub (NTUC LHUB) has signed a deal with NTUC U SME, United Overseas Bank (UOB)'s innovation accelerator the FinLab and Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP).

Mark Tan of Pinsent Masons MPillay, the Singapore joint law venture between MPillay and Pinsent Masons, the law firm behind Out-Law, said: “SMEs continue to be a key pillar of Singapore’s economy, and contribute approximately half of its GDP. It is therefore not a surprise they have been selected as the initial target for this programme, prior to it being extended to a larger mix of companies sometime next year. This is likely to be another step forward towards assisting SMEs to succeed in their transition in the digital age and will hopefully empower and enable them able to effectively further improve their digital capabilities, so that they are able to stay relevant and collectively help steer Singapore’s economy to greater heights.”

NTUC LHUB was established in 2004 to provide training opportunities for Singapore’s workforce. NTUC U SME is an initiative of the Labour Movement that seeks to help SMEs with their business needs.
