11 Jan 2023 | 10:04 am | 1 min. read

Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has recruited financial services partner Tom McHugh based in Leeds.

Tom is an established financial services lawyer, specialising in non-contentious transactional finance work.

Joining from Addleshaw Goddard, Tom’s practice has a particular focus on the social and affordable housing finance sector. He has extensive experience of acting for a wide range of funders across both loan and capital markets transactions (including through private placements) and regularly advises on security trustee arrangements. Tom has advised on a number of high-profile projects in the sector including the £11bn merger of Peabody and Catalyst and the merger between GreenSquare and Accord Housing Association and subsequent £540m restructuring.

Matt Morgan, head of Banking and Restructuring EMEA at Pinsent Masons, said: “Tom is a well-connected and highly regarded finance lawyer. His experience in social housing finance will add significant strength to our financial services team and proposition in this growth area for us. Tom’s hire will also support our financial services team working in the debt capital markets and on bond and loan combined mandates. We are very pleased to welcome him to our team.”

The hire of Tom follows the recent lateral partners hires in the financial services sector of José Millán in Madrid and Max Millington in London.

Commenting on his appointment, Tom said: “I am excited to join an established law firm with a reputation for innovation in legal services. Pinsent Masons has a unique offering, being a purpose-led professional services business with law at the core. I am looking forward to being part of the team.”
